How To Succeed in Couples Therapy
Couples therapy involves two individuals that are committed to making the relationship work. Whether you are together for 7 months or 7 years you believe that your journey with your partner will be successful as you two are both focused and determined.
Succeeding in couples therapy requires respect, patience, and willingness. An individual must respect their partner throughout the journey and allow their partner to discuss their feelings and experiences openly and without judgment and interruption. Partners must remain patient with each other while discussing topics that may be uncomfortable and communicate effectively. Everyone must be willing to be completely honest, be open, and allot time for therapy.
At a time when your relationship is going through its ups and downs be willing to continue to remain open and express yourselves in a productive manner. Remember that it takes love and a strong work ethic to conquer obstacles in a relationship.
According to the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists 98% of couples stay together following couples’ therapy. If you feel that you and your spouse may benefit from couples therapy, please contact our office.
