Emily Edgerton, LCMHCA - Therapist
Hello, I’m Emily and I’m so happy that you’ve come to my page!
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I earned my Master of Science in Counselor Education and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Carolina University. I have experience supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, mood dysregulation, trauma, life transitions, and challenges related to emotional regulation and relationships.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and understanding. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being their authentic selves while exploring their experiences, strengths, and goals. I take an individualized approach to counseling, recognizing that each client’s journey is unique.
I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and play therapy techniques when appropriate. I work alongside clients to develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and build confidence in navigating life’s challenges.
I am passionate about helping clients feel heard, empowered, and supported as they work toward meaningful change. I believe every person has the capacity for growth and strive to meet each client with warmth, empathy, and respect throughout the therapeutic process.
I provide therapy mainly through the Durham office, but can also be flexible and come to the Wake Forest office and provide virtual therapy.
I cannot wait to work with you, your child, and your family! Reach out to me today to get scheduled!
